Air Raid Wardens were in every neighborhood, enforcing blackouts and curfews.

Everyone was inoculated.

It seemed as if everything was rationed . . . food, gasoline, and much more.

Martial law was in full charge of almost everything!

 

Everyone was inoculated, because there was fear of chemical warfare and poisoned water supplies. Also, gas masks were obtained by the thousands and given to everyone, even small children.

 

We were required to keep our masks with us at all times, so we carried them to school and even while playing. Remember, this was wartime, and you did what you were told. Obedience was considered part of being patriotic, and everyone wanted to be patriotic.
